Yesterday I posted a link to Michelle Alexander’s book – The New Jim Crow. Later yesterday I found out that she will be in town next week, speaking at the University of Saint Thomas. Here are the details from St. Thomas’ website Author Lecture: Michelle

Racism – A Little Like Brushing Your Teeth

Racism – A Little Like Brushing Your Teeth

I posted this article from the Huffington Post on my facebook wall the other day.  A church in Kentucky has voted to say that everyone is welcome to come to their church, but interracial couples cannot become members. One thing that jumped out at me

A family friend posted one of these posters on Facebook this morning and it piqued my interest.  I did a quick search and found that they came from a student group at Ohio University.  STARS (Students Teaching Against Racism) I picked up the pictures from the president of the student organizations blog here.

Big thanks to Robyn for posting the picture on Facebook. And thank you Ohio University STARS for making these posters.  They are incredibly powerful, helpful and beautiful.

UPDATE:

Any questions about the posters can be sent to OHIOUSTARS@gmail.com. We are so proud of all the support but it’s overwhelming; we have less than 10 members in our group. We ask that you do not personally email any of the exec’s or message their personal Tumblrs. Thank you guys so much for the love! The purpose was to educate and create dialogue and it did. We have a meeting with a lawyer on Monday so we can protect our posters, and the posters will be all over Ohio University’s campus this week! Again, thanks for the support and have a happy Halloween!
